Content Based Instruction
This method is using content from other disciplines. It has to be different from those disciplines and it has been observed that academic subjects provide natural content for language instruction. The learning of a new language is based in learning of reading and writing, the instructor has to know and understand subject matter text.
In this case teacher has to use material for foreign speakers that don´t know the language very well. Students has to use their own experience and try to guess what are talking about. When teacher has to explain some topic. When students have trouble explaining a concept, the teacher supplies the missing language.
Helping with a video is a good strategy, and very useful, in the video there are vocabulary.
When the video is finished, teacher can tells some words and they have to fill a piece of paper.
Finally teacher can give them homework to memorize the new vocabulary.

- The subject matter content is used for language language teacher purposes, when the learners perceive the relevance of their language use, they are motivated to learn. They know that it is a means to an end, rather than and end in itself.

Hey guys don´t forget that in this meethod the teacher has to master the subject very well because is who will help to the students in their doubts.
ResponderEliminarI think that this method has important points like the learning of reading and writing, the use of material, the use of tasks, the use of videos to do an interactive class etc. But which is exactly the material that the teacher uses with the learners? And I also think that is good that the learners use their experience in the comprehension of a text or when the teacher speaks.
ResponderEliminarThe material that teachers can use with this method depends on the content or subject matter. For example, if you have to learn biology, the teacher can use a biology book, but that book must have authentic texts, I mean, they should be written by a native speaker.

As many of you said, CONTENT is the centre of this type of instruction. We can see the integration of content with specific aims. It also promotes intrinsic motivation.

The thing i think matters the most, as I could understand better from Javi (like ever) is that, the material used in this method, will be the one which will do the ''click'' on the learners.

Well this was my topic, so all I could to say has to include experiences and a very detailed to give the class using, opening, development and closing knowing at the end the product of the class.
ResponderEliminarit could be the completest method because is focused on all the ways to lear and we work with writing, reading, speaking and listening.Sometimes we know how to write but we don't know how to pronounce and with this method we can learn easier.

ResponderEliminarSometimes the students should interactive with the language in real time, end this method lack of the pronuntiation, and that (I think) is more difficult. But it is good learning the grammar too.
ResponderEliminarI Guess that this is a good method for students to learn a new language, because I think that one of the most important things to learn a new language is interacting with the new language and this method lets us do it, overmore while the estudents learn the new language they are practicing grammar and those kind of things that we learn a long our whole life!
